Intervista con un giovane francese impegnato nel recupero di Rakka.

Lo scorso novembre, le forze democratiche siriane (FDS) hanno appena lanciato l’offensiva su Rakka, la capitale de facto dell’organizzazione statale islamica (ei) in Siria. Un mese dopo, Arnaud (il suo primo nome è stato cambiato), i primi anni venti, era sull’aereo. Verso l’Iraq. Specificamente Souleymanieh nel Kurdistan iracheno, dove aveva un appuntamento con un contatto curdo delle unità di protezione del popolo (YPG), una componente indispensabile della SDS.
Arnaud ha lottato contro i ei per quasi otto mesi ormai. Dopo aver trascorso diversi mesi sul fronte, Arnaud riprende le forze nella parte posteriore-a causa di una brutta ferita pollice che si è verificato in formazione. Questo mercoledì, risale al fronte per partecipare al recupero totale della città di Rakka, i cui ei controlla solo la metà.

VICE NEWS: Why did you feel like leaving to Rojava [Syrian Kurdistan]?

Arnaud*: I thought of this idea since the end of 2012. But in epoch I passed my receptacle and my parents wanted that I continue my studies, because I was rather good. They to me said to me that this would be damage that I stop the school. Therefore, I made one year of prépa, one year to the university, then I left in Erasmus. After this, I told myself «Go it is good. If I leave not now, I will never leave. »

I chose Rojava, because since I am youthful I am interested by the Middle East and the geopolitics. Then, at the level of pure political reflexion, this seemed to me obvious to come here because it is rare to be able to participate in a progressive revolutionary process and rather radical for the region. Even if it is not pure social revolution, there are nevertheless things which are made to struggle against poverty, for the promotion of feminist struggles and for the mutltiethnicité. Finally, Kurdish reason touched a lot me, sheenvelopedto me it would be possible to say.

You were politically already hired in France?

This made one instant yes since the high school, roughly. At that time I was already a lot interested in radical politics, but I lived in the deep countryside. Suddenly, I said to my parents that I went to birthdays or in parties, for makes it, participate in demos or in political meetings. After the high school, I began living in city and getting involved really in radical politics. At the beginning, I was with the antifascist groups, then I was interested in groups antispécistes and vegan. Suddenly, I became vegetarian, can vegan. But here, it is finished. I met three other vegan on the spot, but they all stopped. It is impossible unless dying.
